POSTURAL SEATING GUIDE

Maintaining a good posture in sitting is essential for people with multiple sclerosis to minimise the risks associated with poor postures held for long periods (e.g. contractures, pressure ulcers)

With this in mind, the TiMS Education Working Group have produced a practical notebook-style guide defining what are good and bad postures and identifying the problems which may occur if a good sitting position is not maintained.

Written by physiotherapist Wendy Hendrie and published in collaboration with TiMS; the book, entitled "Are you sitting comfortably....?", is for anyone with MS who spends most of their day sitting down.

The publication is aimed at peoplewith MS as well as informal and formal carers and health professionals.

Articles promoting the launch of the publication will be submitted to the various appropriate profesional publications e.g. OT News, Frontline, Synapse, CSP Bulletin and the MS Trust Newsletters "Way Ahead" and "Open Door".

Copies have now been sent to members of the TiMS on-line Contact Directory.

Hard copy format copies can be ordered, or downloaded in .pdf format, from the MS Trust. Visit the MS Trust Website
