Staying Smart
is a website for people who want to know about how MS can affect thinking.
The author, Dr Dawn Langdon Reader in Neuropsychology at Royal Holloway Unversity of London, has worked in partnership with the MS Trust to develop Staying Smart.
About half of people with MS experience cognitive problems on objective testing and self-report of cognitive problems is also high. It is hard to access good quality information about this under recognised symptom of MS.
"Cognition" is the general word that covers all aspects of thinking and includes memory, concentration and attention span, problem solving, information processing and word finding.
The website starts with everyday problems, each being linked to a set of information. It might be memory, attention, wayfinding, finding things, language or executive skills.
There is also a useful Tips and Tricks section. You are invited to add your own advice to help other people using the site. The is also More Information.... including Gadgets and Gizmos / MS Trust Publications / Research Reports and other important resources and links to available help.
